Domain name ownership details

Hello. I'm thinking of buying a domain name through F2S and having them host the site. The thing is, I do NOT want my name/address to be readily available to anyone who does an internet search on this website. If I go for a .co.uk domain name, will F2S pass on my name/address for them to be revealed on Whois (etc) web searches?

Moved from Website Comments, Suggestions & News to Domain Names because this isn't about this site.

If you go for a .co.uk domain I think F2S by default will put your details in the whois database. But if you contact F2S after you have registered it (an email to Domainadmin@freedom2surf.net works best I found) they will remove your address from the whois (as long as you are registering the domain as an individual). Your name will still be in the whois though.

Thanks for that (sorry about posting in wrong section). Unfortunately I’ve got an unusual forename/surname which googling would easily produce an address for. Looks like I won’t be buying a domain name then.

Register a nom de plume, something like Beryl for example.

Commie,

have a look at this
http://www.nominet.org.uk/other/whois/faq/#opt
Can I choose not to have my address details published?
Yes. Nominet appreciates that some individuals are concerned about having their personal address published on the WHOIS and therefore allows individuals the opportunity to opt-out of having their address details displayed.

How can I opt out?
If you are a non-trading individual, you will be able to opt-out of the WHOIS by speaking to your registration agent who in turn will modify the domain name record held by Nominet on your behalf so that your address details are not displayed.

Can anyone opt out?
Only domain name holders that are non-trading individuals can opt-out of having their address details published. In other words, if you do not use or plan to use your domain name for business, trade or professional transactions you will be entitled to opt-out of having your address displayed.
