About to leave but...

want to know if I will be charged a "termination early fee".

I have been on f2s lite since 2004 and get billed monthly. I Looked in TTB's terms & conditions and it states that early termination within 1st year of contract, will be charged £300, within 2nd year, £125 after 2 years, £125. This can't be right can it?

I thought as I pay my bill monthly and depending when I actually leave, I would at the most pay any outstandings till the next payment date.

Thanks in advance,

No, they cannot charge you an early termination fee if you have continued your subscription from 2004 with them without a break.

Re: About to leave but...

They shouldn't charge you for it, were you still on a legacy freedom2surf product? I'm guessing so, in which case surely the TT terms don't apply and instead the ones you agreed to do?

Even though jolo *may* have upgraded, unless TTB specifically either verbally highlighted this material change in the contract, or wrote a letter enclosing the full terms and conditions it could be argued that you never agreed to it.

They wouldn't dare risk letting it go to court in case the judgement went against them, in which case they wouldn't be able to fleece any more customers.

TTB absolutely cannot, under OFCOM rules, withhold a MAC code even if there is an outstanding balance on the account including early termination fees, so you are free to move away from them and obtain broadband services from another supplier whatever.

Be interested to hear how you get on, but I really don't think that you'll have to pay.

Re: About to leave but...

Thanks all for replying.

I can safely say that I have kept the same service from f2s till now without any changes made whilst with TTB.

Anyhow, I have now moved on and my ties with TTB end on the 21st of December. We shall see if it goes smoothly!

I can remember when I joined f2s in 2003, it was such a forward thinking setup then and at a time when all the major companies where charging around £30/m for broadband, f2s where offering £15/m.

I guess good things don't have a place in todays corrupt business climate.

So long to everyone.

Good luck with your new ISP, whilst things have hit rock bottom lately, they started going downhill from pretty soon after the original management sold up in Late 2005.

Re: About to leave but...

Hi all. Just a quick update. To my relief my migration went very smoothly without any problems. Received my MAC code within 24hrs and did not incur any "termination early" fees.

My broadband is faster now and do not get too much contention during busy times like I did with TTB.

Odd thing is I can still access my TTB account and f2s.com emails!

I would just like to thank everybody for their help whilst I have been here. I will drop in from time to time whilst the Forum is still up.

All the best.

Re: About to leave but...

I managed to get shot of TalkTalk back in May 2011 after being with F2S for many years.
However I have just had a demand for £126 which I queried with both the claims company and with TalkTalk.

TalkTalk never responded and the claims company said it was for 30 days cancellation charges. I'm pretty sure there was no mention of any 30 day notice in F2S conditions.
